Fourth of July weekend and a brand new tournament, 3M still got some big names to show up here. Brooks Koepka, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, Bryson Dechambeau, Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson, Tony Finau, and new up and comer Viktor Hovland will be among the guys teeing it up in the Twin Cities. Here’s a look at some notable Thursday/Friday tee times.

The Course

TPC Twin Cities is a track that has been used on the PGA Champions Tour in the past. It is an Arnold Palmer designed course in 2000 with some help from Tom Lehman. Because they wanted to make this course a PGA staple, it was toughened and lengthened up by Tom Lehman in 2018. For this year it will sit at a Par 71 at 7,450 yards.

Expect a lot of scoring of this week, just like last week in Detroit. This course features water in play on 10+ holes, with 27 water hazards in total. The course also has 74 bunkers in play but neither of things should really effect these guys. The water isn’t in awful spots, so other than an errant shot guys won’t have to worry about where the water is. The greens are of average size and even have less movement than the greens we saw last week in Detroit. Also, this course has less trees guarding the fairways and greens for the players to worry about. The three Par 5’s here are long but some guys will still be able to get there in two, and there are three driveaable Par 4’s. All in all, this course should be a scoring fest and expect the winner here to post a score -20 or better.

Hole #7: 381 Yard Par 4

Short Par 4 here that guys can reach in two. As you can see you have to avoid all the sand traps to get there off the tee. A good look at a water hazard that really isn’t in play for tour players.

One & Done: Joaquin Niemann is a younger golfer not many people have heard of, but he’s been close to winning multiple times the past few years. Past two weeks he’s finished T5 and this guessing here is crap shoot. We’ll take Niemann whose also been much better with his putter as of late.

Betting Winner: Joaquin Niemann (+2800), Kevin Streelman (+4000), Cameron Champ (+10000), Sepp Straka (+12500), Jason Day (+1000)

Top 10: Patrick Reed (+220), Viktor Hovland (+330), Sung Kang (+800), Brendan Steele (+1000)
