Whose Teeing Off

The RBC tends to get a handful of bigger names here, and putting this tournament the week before the U.S. Open does help has guys will head here to sharpen their game before Pebble Beach. Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka will be teeing it up after taking last week at the memorial off. Rory and Justin Thomas will be here, both trying to get their form back for different reasons. Other bigger names you’ll see here are Webb Simpson, Henrik Stenson, Matt Kuchar, Sergio Garcia and Bubba Watson. Overall this is a field of 156 guys.

Recent History

Not much history to go off of here because the RBC hasn’t been played at Hamilton Golf since 2012 and I’m not sure looking at those scores back then does us any good. So we’ll just list the past 5 winner of this event, their scores, and runner-ups. In short though, DJ and Bubba Watson are two guys have usually do well at this event no matter where its played.

  • 2018: Dustin Johnson (-23)
    • Runner Up: Whee Kim, Byeong-Hun An (-20)
  • 2017: Jhonattan Vegas (-21)
    • Runner Up: Charley Hoffman (Playoff)
  • 2016: Jhonattan Vegas (-12)
    • Runner Up: Dustin Johnson, Martin Laird, Jon Rahm (-11)
  • 2015: Jason Day (-17)
    • Runner Up: Bubba Watson (-16)
  • 2014: Tim Clark (-17)
    • Runner Up: Jim Furyk (-16)

The Course

Hamilton Golf and Country Club is a 7,000 yard Par 70. It is a somewhat tight course off the tee with tree-lined fairways throughout. The average fairway is only 30 yards wide and there are a lot of doglegs throughout. The rough here can be… ROUGH. (dad puns). And the greens here can be small with lots of bunkers around them. However, there is not a lot of water on this course. At Par 70 there are only two Par 5’s, but the hardest holes on this course are the Par 3’s. The guy you want here is someone who can hit fairways, hit greens in regulation, good Par 3 lay, or someone to get hot putting. Below are some videos of the course.
