Holy epic fucking collapse by Justin Thomas. I talked about picking JT as my one and done in my Genesis Preview blog. Although he did better than who I picked (Hideki finished T9), JT had an all time collapse. He went into round 4 at Riviera with a four stroke lead after shooting a 65 in his third round, he was sitting at 17 under. If JT plays conservative he maybe shoots one or two under, but that means the guys behind him, Adam Scott & J.B. Holmes, would have to shoot 6 under or better to win. No, JT fell apart at shot +4 in his final round, while JB Holmes only shot one under and ended up winning the whole thing at -14 under. If you bet on JT to win (I did, but that not that much) you were feeling high and mighty until about four holes into the fourth round. But even then it was crazy to think JT would still keep playing that poorly on the back nine. Well, he played worse and for fucks sake we lose money. Congrats to JB Holmes on the win but he didn’t play well at all either. Nobody in the final group played well, Adam Scott shot +5 in his final round. Yikes.
We did have ourselves a little excitement at the end though. Not only did I mention J.T. as a potential winner in my blog but I also pegged Si-Woo Kim as a long shot at +12000. Well Si-Woo shot a nice 5 under in round four and ended up in solo third at 12 under. He missed some VERY close birdie putts and a par saving putt on the back nine where he probably would have ended up at 14 under. Could have been a big pay day for us.
Tiger also gave us some highlights but like Tiger has done later on in his career, he started out hot and fizzled in the end. At one point Tiger was 10 under and with JT struggling it looked like Tiger could make a serious move, he had 9+ holes left to play and only had to make up 4 or 5 strokes at the time. He couldn’t do it and fell apart and ended up at 6 under and T15.
Other notes for this tournament. Jordan Spieth started out with a solid 7 under but couldn’t do jack shit after. Rory McIlroy was the opposite, he started out very slow playing with Tiger and JT in rounds 1 and 2, and then ended up with a late charge on Sunday to finish -12.
Onto WGC Mexico Championship next weekend, look out for that blog on Wednesday night.
NBA All Star Weekend
Joe Harris, who looks nothing like he did at Virginia, won the three point contest. He beat out Buddy Hield and Steph Curry in the finals with 26 points.
The dunk contest is still iffy for pretty much everybody. There are some cool dunks but everything as turned into just what kind of props you use and the showmanship over the dunk. Also the scoring is atrocious, guys makes a normal dunk on his 3rd attempt and he gets all 8s? What the fuck is that. Having said that Diallo’s dunk over Shaq was fucking awesome because 1. he jumped over Shaq, a huge human being and 2. he was elbow deep.
Also Giannis tweeted this out. 2020 Dunk Contest: Giannis, Donovan Mitchell, Aaron Gordon, Zach Levine, Zion Willamson. Give it to us.
Dunk contest next year??🤔 👍🏽or👎🏽 https://t.co/Xg6aPoTjOI

The All-Star game was a dunk fest even though Giannis said he was going to play hard. I’m sure he did, just not on offense. Kevin Durant took home the MVP as Team Lebron beat Team Giannis.
Thursday even NBA games start back up again and the Bucks take on the Celtics in a huge match-up in the East. Click here to read my NBA blog about the first half of the season.
The big game was in the SEC as #1 Tennessee visited #5 Kentucky and got dominated by 17 points. Tennessee doesn’t fall off that 1 seed line with this loss but they gotta get revenge on Kentucky at home in a few weeks. This was a big game for Kentucky obviously, but they lost at home to LSU earlier in the week on a questionable call and they really couldn’t afford to lose this game at home if they want to keep SEC championship hopes alive and a potential #1 seed in the NCAA tournament in play. What a run on sentence that was.
In the Big 10 Michigan bounced back with a nice home win over a ranked Maryland team. Michigan’s defense showed back up and held Maryland to only 52 points, Marylands lowest output since they were in the ACC. Michigan need that confidence boost going forward, they go to Minnesota Thursday and then have Michigan St. at home on Sunday.
Iowa escaped Rutgers on an absurd buzzer beater for the second game in the row.
BUZZER BEATER FOR THE WIN

The Big 12 is a fucking mess. Kansas State is at 9-3 in conference after losing to Iowa State at home by 14 points. Then at 9-4 you have Kansas, Iowa State, and Texas Tech. Saturday day we have a big game when Kansas, who fucking sucks on the road, plays at Texas Tech. If Kansas loses that game it could end the streak of conference championships for the Jayhawks.
St. Johns also took it to Villanova on Sunday and overcame a 14 point deficit. For St. Johns it gives them a quality win, puts them over .500 in the Big East, and help their tournament resume sitting at 19-7. For the Big East overall, Villanova and Marquette are now tied in the loss column with two a piece in the Big East. They meet again on 2/27 in Villanova for the Big East regular season title, barring some other crazy upsets.
The Birmingham Iron, Arizona Hotshots, Orlando Apollos, and San Diego Fleet all came out on top and we have three close games this weekend. Although the Iron/Stallions game was a one score game, 12-9 is fucking boring.
However, the Hotshots came back from 18 down in the second half to beat the Memphis Express and Christian Hackenberg – dude was SO close to a win.
Then the Orlando Apollos traveled to San Antonio to play the Commanders in what will be the best home field advantage in the AAF, I can tell already. Bold statement there after they just lost at home. Again we are a pro Apollos blog and I love the ole ball coach and Garret Gilbert (MVP). This was another comeback win, the Apollos were down 29-17 with about 8 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and came back to win.
Other AAF notes:
- The Atlanta Legends are garbage. Could Clemson beat the Legends?
- The no away jerseys in the Fleet/Legends game was, hard to look at.
- If the AAF can keep giving us entertaining games, I will keep buying into this. It’s not appointment television but pre and post NCAA tournament I love it. These guys are playing for a shot in the NFL, or just out there playing the game they love and its good competition.
- The Chicago Bears should hire every kicker in the AAF. Guy just out here hitting 50 yarder after 50 yarder.
